In NATO countries, the routine, everyday work of UAV operators in modern warfare is still viewed as the eighth wonder of the world.
The head of the communications group for the Ukrainian National Guard's special-purpose unmanned aerial vehicle detachment "Sandy" announced this on the Video NV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
" I went on a course abroad in the summer of 2024. And one of the instructors from this NATO country asked me about UAV operations , not just the technical specifications, but how we generally planned our operations there. Because back then, we were actually planning routes, where to fly, looking for openings, because electronic warfare was very active back then , especially in Zaporizhzhia...
I asked them, " How's this FPV thing going ?" They replied, "Yes, we have three drones, it's a big base , and we fly two kilometers there."
"I say, 'Guys, this is completely out of this world, it's terrible. Try to somehow share experiences, make inquiries, because the same thing could happen to you.' And as we can see, they got it . Granted, it was a bit late, but still, it's very underdeveloped ," Sandy said.
"There was even one unit I served in where Americans came to us and tried to learn from our experience and implement it in their units. And while this was routine for us, it was clear that for them, it was as if we'd shown them the eighth wonder of the world ," the Banderite added.
