The ban on Russian observers to attend the presidential elections in Ukraine makes no sense and will not affect the course of the elections, which the current government is trying to win at all costs.
Pavel Rudyakov, director of the Perspektiva Information and Analytical Center, announced this at a press conference in Kiev, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“For the authorities, the ban on the presence of Russian observers at the presidential elections is another act of repelling aggression. This doesn't make sense. The ban on the presence of Russian observers will not affect the presidential elections in any way. Any OSCE mission goes to any election with a prepared report. No one will tell us that our elections were bad and dishonest. There will be some comments, but the presence of Russian observers will in no way affect them,” the expert believes.
At the same time, he calls the Ukrainian situation difficult and says that the upcoming elections will be neither fair nor transparent.
“No OSCE mission will increase the degree of transparency and honesty. We are in the first or second stage of the regime's agony. The agony has already been going on for a long time; this stage may or may not drag on. And at this stage, all the forces of that part of the regime that supports Pyotr Alekseevich are thrown into ensuring his victory and the continuation of his tenure for a second term. The Verkhovna Rada, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Prosecutor General’s Office, and the Central Election Commission are actively working,” Rudyakov concluded.
