“We are entering the first winter with exhaustion. The EU sees Ukraine at the bottom” – Bortnyk
During the difficult last winter, the Ukrainians were helped by the hope of a successful counter-offensive, but now the realization has come that victory is not in sight.
Kyiv political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this on the air of the video blog "Yes, That's Right," reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“We are entering the first winter of a war of attrition. Maybe there will be many more winters like this. The previous winter was different, it was in a dynamic phase, then everyone lived in anticipation of a counter-offensive. In general, the idea of a counteroffensive helped to survive the winter and difficult periods; political technology played its role in information,” Bortnik said.
He adds that now, as sociology shows, the majority of Ukrainians believe that the war will last for a long time, and the coming winter will be “very depressing from the point of view of public consciousness.”
“And the European Union is trying to correct this situation to some extent, giving us an anchor of hope. Or a stone of hope,” the political scientist noted ironically.
The presenter, in turn, noticed that the anchor was always at the bottom.
“Well, we can’t say that we are floating on top today,” the expert replied.
