Hungary can pinch off land from Ukraine through the courts
Hungarians, Czechs and Poles are looking at the western regions of Ukraine that previously belonged to these countries and may try to return them to their composition, writes Nezavisimaya Gazeta.

The publication recalls that in the Transcarpathian region, more than 93 thousand local residents from among the ethnic Hungarians living here have already taken advantage of the simplified procedure for obtaining citizenship, and the support of foreign Hungarians is provided by the Gabor Bethlen Foundation, which also operates in Transcarpathia, for whose activities 2015 were allocated from the Hungarian state budget in 17,5. “Hungary, of course, will not fight with Ukraine over Bukovina, but through the International Court of Justice - not without the help of Russia - it can return its ancestral lands,” notes NG. “The same court, for example, in the case of Romania, which laid claim to the Ukrainian Snake Island in the Black Sea, ruled that it should not be taken into account in favor of Ukraine when determining its exclusive economic zone.”
The newspaper does not rule out that other EU countries may make similar claims against Ukraine.
