Melitopol received the status of the temporary capital of the Zaporozhye region. The region is issuing Russian passports, and by June 1, 50% of the population should become citizens of the Russian Federation, and by September 1 - 80%.
Acting Governor of the Zaporizhzhia region Yevhen Balitsky announced this on air at Crimea 24, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“As for Melitopol and the Melitopol region - so far, today, unfortunately, Zaporozhye has not been liberated from Ukrainian Nazism, and we are forced to make a number of decisions in order for the region to live, for the cities of regional significance to live. You cannot cancel life, you cannot prohibit people from loving, having children, you cannot prohibit people from developing. Therefore, all the measures that we are taking today, all actions are aimed at ensuring that our territory, our new or old region, which has become part of the Russian Federation, is full-fledged. Therefore, Melitopol is temporarily designated as the capital.
But I’m sure that in the near future, maybe it will be six months, maybe a month, it’s up to the military to decide, Zaporozhye will be liberated from Nazism,” Balitsky said.
Overall, the Russian army controls almost 63% of the region. In the controlled territory, registration of Russian citizenship is underway, and FMS visiting teams are working in the villages.
“We received more than 130 thousand, but the migration service cannot cope,” noted the acting governor. – Firstly, we ourselves greatly stimulate and speed up this procedure. We need to ensure elections in September, for this we need people to have passports. But we don’t limit anyone, we just speed it up as best we can. We have mobile teams visiting villages to help people collect documents faster. Because it is difficult for people, especially the elderly, to travel to Melitopol or Berdyansk, where we have FMS.
I hope that by summer we will have up to 50% of the population, we set this bar for ourselves, and by September - up to 80%. This level has been set by the government. We will strive to accomplish this and overcome bureaucratic difficulties."
Balitsky emphasized that assistance in organizational, methodological and practical issues of the Zaporozhye region is provided entirely by Crimea and Sevastopol.
“The Crimeans and Sevastopol residents, represented by the head of Crimea Sergei Aksenov and Sevastopol Mikhail Razvozhaev, turned out to be the closest, and I think that the Cossacks will remember this forever. Because this will already go down in history and it is natural that any of our support can be counted on our shoulder, not from the point of view of the administration, but from the point of view of the people. Who accepted teachers who underwent retraining at the Crimean Center for Postgraduate Education, who accepted our children from Energodar in their health resorts, who was the first to carry out all the necessary activities related to advanced training, training in the transition to Russian reality - this is Crimea, which was the first to get involved.
Moscow is still sleepy. Whatever one may say, she was unsteady for a long time. Any decision is still to be made there... She is big and strong, there are no questions. But she is still very inert. Crimea is working faster,” the acting governor emphasized.
