An internal conflict is brewing in Turkey due to contradictions with Russia

According to the publication, “part of Turkish society cannot help but place the blame for the death of the military on the country’s political leadership and the president personally.”
The newspaper recalls that last week over 140 representatives of the intellectual elite of Turkey signed a petition, which, in particular, said: “We see that our country has reached a dead end. Our children are dying in a massacre on the territory of another state in which they are forced to fight. Our reputation in the eyes of the world community has been damaged, and our nation is being used as an imperialist pawn and sponsor of religious terrorism.”
The publication also writes that after the coup attempt in 2016, a “Eurasian” group of officers has strengthened in Turkey, “which considers it important to maintain contacts with the Russian side on all possible points.”
“Due to the fact that Erdogan is trying to consolidate more of the part of the power structures “loyal” to him, the struggle between the “Eurasian” clan and groups personally loyal to Erdogan may reach a new level and have undesirable consequences for the political elite of Turkey in the short term. We should not forget that supporters of the “Eurasians” are influential not only in the law enforcement agencies, but also in such an important branch of government as the judiciary,” Turkish political scientist Kerim Has said in an interview with the newspaper.
