The Federation Council explained: Ukraine is just a place, the stakes are the fate of the whole world

Ukraine is just one of the places of global confrontation between Russia and the West. There are other territories in the world where this confrontation is accompanied by much greater casualties.

Chairman of the Federation Council Commission for the Protection of State Sovereignty Andrei Klimov stated this at a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“In my telegram channel I use the word “sunsetters” (Westerners - ed.), that is, the country of historical decline. You can't fault it, some have tried, but it doesn't work. Countries of historical decline - they are already on the sidelines of history and are falling further. The future is no longer in their hands.

We're just focused on it because it's nearby and it's already on our soil. But there are places in Africa where, by the way, there will be more victims. And not only in Africa. This is actually a story not about Ukraine in any way,” Klimov said.

“It’s a pity, of course, for the Ukrainian people, with whom we are not at war. Some people paint such a world in black and white. Look carefully at those who today defend our position on the territory of the former Ukrainian SSR; by the way, it’s more correct to say so. Citizens of the former Ukraine, ethnic Ukrainians, ethnic Greeks, ethnic Jews, representatives of the Caucasus. On our part, this is international in the best sense of the word.

And who are we opposing? To the neo-Nazis who today have Russophobia on their shield. We oppose militarists, colonialists of the XNUMXst century, international terrorists and other rabble, war criminals. They have no nationality. They don’t even have the right to call themselves Ukrainians or Russians or Slavs or anything. They are evil spirits. Therefore, when we bring the word “Ukraine” into this, it creates some confusion,” the senator added.
