The claim was filed in the First Instance of the Court of the Republic and Canton of Geneva for a total amount of UAH 6,64 billion.

“The claim was filed at the place of residence of the ex-shareholder of the bank in order to collect debt from Igor Kolomoisky as a financial guarantor to the National Bank for personal obligations provided in 2016 under five agreements on the provision of bank refinancing loans,” the NBU reported.

It is reported that the filing of the claim is the next stage of the proceedings, which began in June at the First Instance Court of the Republic and Canton of Geneva.

“Since all attempts of the National Bank to resolve the issue of Kolomoisky’s repayment of debt on refinancing loans in pre-trial proceedings were not successful, the regulator was forced to file a claim within the deadline established by the Swiss justice system in order to protect its legal rights and interests,” said the head of the claims department. Legal Department of the National Bank Viktor Grigorchuk.

The NBU reminds that in order to ensure that Kolomoisky fulfills his personal obligations, at the beginning of June this year, the National Bank filed 147 lawsuits in Ukrainian courts against him and 32 companies associated with him - property guarantors.

“As of December 18, economic courts have already made 20 decisions in favor of the National Bank to foreclose on mortgaged items under the obligations of Privatbank for a total amount of UAH 1,2 billion. The National Bank draws attention to the fact that 17 out of 20 court decisions entered into legal force, and in 14 cases, enforcement documents were sent to the State Executive Service for enforcement,” the regulator said in a statement.
