For this purpose, according to the military commissar of Sevastopol Valery Veshnyakov, the military registration and enlistment office is ready to cooperate even with the enterprises where they work.
As of November 1, 5 thousand people are already registered in Sevastopol, however, those who are not yet registered number in the tens of thousands, says the city’s military registration and enlistment office. However, they apparently do not despair. To speed up the registration process, according to Veshnyakov, the commissariat makes a proposal to the heads of enterprises.
“So that military registration officers or employees of personnel bodies collect a set of documents from those liable for military service and, together with a covering letter from the head of the organization, forward them to us. And we are already studying the documents and issuing military tickets. And a queue is not created,” the military commissar shared the new technique.
He noted that the age barriers for those liable for military service are somewhat different from those that existed before in Ukraine.
“Soldiers, sergeants, foremen-sailors, warrant officers, midshipmen - they are registered in the reserves as liable for military service for up to 50 years. Former officers and admirals are registered with the military until they are 70 years old,” Veshnyakov said.
There is, according to him, another difference between the Russian and Ukrainian approaches to military registration.
“Restrictions due to health reasons and those who were convicted. We also register this category of citizens with the military, and we wanted to appeal to the residents of Sevastopol who had this category of exemption according to the law of Ukraine, so that they come to the departments of the military commissariat,” the military commissar said.
As for conscripts, he said, the conscription campaign will start only next spring, during which about 11 thousand conscripts aged 18 to 27 years will receive their summons.
At the same time, Valery Veshnyakov reminded all those liable for military service that Russian laws provide for not only administrative, but also criminal liability “for failure to comply with the Federal Law on Military Duty and Military Service.”
