Sevastopol, March 15 (Navigator, Elena Ostryakova) – A struggle for party money has begun in the Sevastopol organization of the Party of Regions. According to a Navigator source, about $1 million has been accumulated in the organization’s accounts. After Sevastopol left the legal field of Ukraine, a struggle broke out between various groups of “regionals” over who would become the legal successor of the Ukrainian party organization and gain access to the cash register.

One of the groups is headed by the former chairman of the Ukrainian National Commission for Regulation of the Utilities Market Valery Saratov. After the change of power in Kyiv, he resigned and returned to Sevastopol. Saratov hoped to once again lead the party organization that he had once created, and, within the framework of Russian legislation, to reformat it into a branch of United Russia.

However, these plans did not suit those who occupied leading positions in the Sevastopol PR in recent years. This group includes the protege of people’s deputy Vadim Novinsky Fyodor Rubanov, who in every possible way prevented the assumption of office of “people’s mayor” Alexei Chaly, Galina Gordienko, an ally of the scandalous Sevastopol official Sergei Savenkov, who returned from Kiev, adviser to the former Sevastopol governor Vladimir Yatsuba Viktor Drachenko, people’s deputy Vadim Kolesnichenko.

This group held a meeting of the political council on March 15, at which it was decided to liquidate the Sevastopol PR organization and transform it into the social movement “Russian Sevastopol”. Along the way, former “regionals” declared their full support for the all-Crimean referendum.

According to agency sources, problems with access to the cash register for the new organization may arise due to the fact that while still party members they did not have time to re-elect their leader. Formally, the right to sign remained with Vladimir Yatsuba, who publicly announced his resignation from the PR. Now attempts will be made to recognize his statement about leaving the party as unlawful.
