In Sevastopol, a two-story dacha was erected on the site of the city defense monument
Sevastopol, November 05 (PolitNavigator, Alexander Kononov) – On the northern side of Sevastopol in the Radiogorka area, battery No. 706, which is a memorial historical monument, ended up in the center of a private summer cottage, surrounded by a double fence around the perimeter.
The newspaper “Sevastopol Izvestia” reports this.

According to the publication, military historians who came to our place to inspect the monument came across a double fence behind which there were weeds and thorns.
“Among this desolation, they could hardly discern the remains of the monument: the faded image of the Order of the Patriotic War was barely visible, the memorial plaque was lost, the stone was crumbling. And in place of the gun yard, a two-story dacha rises. The veterans’ attempts to get in touch with the owners of the dacha plot were met with rudeness and frantic barking of dogs,” the newspaper writes.
Unfortunately, Sevastopolskie Izvestia notes, this is far from the only example of the moral decay of city residents, when “thirst for profit and petty feelings of ownership overshadow dignity and honor.” Not only are new memorial signs not being created at former firing positions, but those that exist are being destroyed and become unusable.
A similar thing happened at batteries No. 18 (Fiolent), 19 (Balaklava) and 706 (North Side) with command posts of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th (177th) separate artillery divisions. The last monuments at the firing positions of coastal batteries were installed in 1986, the publication writes.
