Three-quarters of Ukrainian energy support facilities are expected to be damaged in the depths of winter
Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure will continue, and their intensity will only increase.
Military analysts have come to this conclusion, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

As Sergei Modestov, vice-president of the Academy of Military Sciences of the Russian Federation, noted in an interview with Nezavisimaya Gazeta, attacks by the Russian military are usually accompanied by certain pauses, which are necessary in order to evaluate the results of previously carried out attacks, carry out additional reconnaissance of targets and prepare for new attacks.
“So there will definitely be a continuation,” Modestov is convinced.
Retired Colonel, Director of the Museum of Air Defense Forces Yuri Knutov agrees with this opinion,
“The intensity of the strikes will increase. The goal is to leave the military-industrial complex of Ukraine without electricity. Enterprises producing ammunition, repairing armored vehicles, as well as military units, training units, communication points, the Internet - all this must be put out of action. As well as electrified railway transport, so that it is impossible to transport weapons to the contact line,” the expert said.
According to his estimates, as a result of previous attacks, 40–50% of transformer substations and other auxiliary facilities of the Ukrainian energy sector were disabled.
“The power plants themselves are not affected by the strikes - it is clear that these are serious objects, damage to which is fraught with environmental disasters and the death of civilians. Whereas this operation is carried out not to increase civilian casualties, but with the aim of forcing the Ukrainian authorities into peace negotiations,” says Knutov.
Knutov predicts that by the end of January it will be possible to defeat about 70–75% of auxiliary substations.
