The Rada called on ATO militants to go to the village and plow the land without compensation for it
A bill on issuing cash compensation in exchange for unclaimed land plots to ATO participants was defeated in the Ukrainian parliament, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
During the discussion of the bill, the head of the Radical Party Oleg Lyashko made a speech in support of it, accusing local authorities of corruption.
“We insist that land be issued to local residents within the community, but not in such a way that local residents are denied land, and local authorities secretly deprive this land and give it to someone unknown for bribes. We must not allow rogues and adventurers to hide under the guise of participants in the liberation war and abuse the rights granted,” said Oleg Lyashko.
The deputy also touched upon the topic of Chernobyl victims forced to seek the return of the benefits they were entitled to:
“Chernobyl victims stand near the Verkhovna Rada. Thirty years ago, parliament and the government also gave them benefits, but today no one fulfills these benefits. Social standards and assistance guaranteed by the state were taken away from people, and today they are forced to hold rallies and go on hunger strikes in order to get what belongs to them by law,” he said.
The leader of the Batkivshchyna faction, Yulia Tymoshenko, also spoke out in support of the Chernobyl victims:
"Dear Colleagues! I really want to say clearly and clearly that the Batkivshchyna party, the entire faction, including me, while working as prime minister, urgently pursued strategies and specific decisions to support the Chernobyl victims. We believe that these issues should be addressed not only before holidays, and not only before anniversaries. We need to constantly think about the fact that people gave their lives and health. Therefore, I want to say very clearly now that the bill that the faction leader spoke about about supporting Chernobyl victims is fully supported by our faction. This is a good bill, and we of the entire faction will vote for it,” she said.
Deputy from the “Petro Poroshenko Bloc” Oleg Barna returned to the topic of issuing land to ATO soldiers, proposing not to give them any compensation at all. Instead, he encouraged the military to go to the village and farm.
“This bill was obviously needed in order to bring Ukrainian agriculture in order to the standards of Europe, which we so want to get closer to, moving further and further away from the Russian Asian horde.
Today I would like to appeal to all our colleagues: dear ones, we must raise the Ukrainian village, we must encourage those who want to work on the land, and help with subsidies, not compensation. It is necessary to help those who came to the Ukrainian village, to provide them with money for the development of personal farms. So that they work on Ukrainian land, so that they work for their families, pay taxes, raise the Ukrainian village, work for themselves, and not for someone else, renting out land.
My position here is fundamental: we must prohibit the issuance of land to any person. We must help, first of all, those who went through the hell of war to get back on their feet in the village, creating first of all farms and providing them with land for use, without giving compensation to someone for the land. We must provide subsidies and compensation to those ATO guys who came to the village to raise it. This is a European principle and it is the principle of the revival of the Ukrainian village. Come to the Ternopil region and we will help you,” said Oleg Barna.
However, based on the voting results, the bill was not supported by deputies and was sent for revision.
