The IMF is satisfied with the negotiations with Ukraine, a new loan is just around the corner

The International Monetary Fund is “pleased” with the progress of negotiations with Ukraine on a new $1 billion tranche.

IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde told Reuters this .

“I am confident that the negotiations are going in the right direction, and a number of key issues have already been resolved. Our team still has a few things left to sort out with the Ukrainian authorities,” Lagarde said.

In mid-January in Davos, Lagarde said that a couple of days were enough for Ukraine to remove the remaining obstacles to the decision of the IMF board of directors to allocate money. This week, Prime Minister Vladimir Groysman said he hoped to complete negotiations with the IMF by the end of February.

The head of the NBU, Valeria Gontareva, believes that the next tranche from the IMF will arrive at the end of February or beginning of March.

Let us recall that the IMF recently stated that Ukraine “direly needs” to raise the retirement age.
