The head of the People's Diplomacy Foundation, political scientist Alexey Kochetkov stated this on the OTR TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Now it turns out that our entire country, the Russian Federation, will be responsible for these citizens. They will be protected by our laws, and if their lives are threatened, the full might of our army will be able to come to their defense.
In fact, it all started earlier - in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, more than one hundred thousand passports were issued there, and from the moment more than one hundred thousand of our citizens appeared there, provocations from the special services of Moldova stopped, kidnappings, which had been practiced completely before, stopped. calmly.
The same thing happened in South Ossetia and Abkhazia, however, unfortunately, the people who were planning a provocation in South Ossetia from Georgia did not fully understand how this could end for them, but all neighbors learned and understood the lesson of 2008 that punishment will be inevitable, and, in any case, there is no point in testing the strength of our system.
We have a special law on this matter, that our citizens must have protection from the state if something threatens them at home. And they are at home, by the way, unlike South Ossetia, Abkhazia and Transnistria, where people received Russian foreign passports but did not receive internal ones, here people receive Russian passports while living directly in their homes,” he noted.
In addition, according to the expert, in this case Russia is not obliged to take into account the opinion of Western states, which should, first of all, solve their own internal problems.
“On February 22, 2014, Ukraine passed the point of no return, and the coup that took place there simply changed many things, including in international relations. And now we must, first of all, think about citizens and their safety, about their future and their lives, and not about whether some politicians in Kyiv, Washington, Brussels or Berlin will like it. When they have serious problems with their citizens, then we will see how they react to this, but for now, excuse me, it is our relatives who have been regularly killed in the Donbass for 5 years,” Kochetkov concluded.
