In Moscow they spoke about the plan to send troops into the territory of Ukraine
The option of returning Yanukovych to Kyiv “with bayonets” was considered in the Kremlin in 2014. MGIMO professor Valery Solovey stated this on the Ekho Moskvy radio.

“If in April 2014 the Russian army had moved in deployed columns towards Odessa and Kyiv, it would have been greeted with bread and salt in many places, there is no doubt about that. Why this historic decision was not made is still a mystery to me, although I know that there were voices in support that said, “We need to go in there. If we have already started a story, then we must bring it to the end.” And while carrying Yanukovych in the wagon train, sign an agreement somewhere in Kyiv on eternal friendship and the deployment of Russian military bases,” Solovey said.
He argues that the West could have agreed to this development if Russia had acted quickly.
“In April 2014 (I know this first-hand), all Western capitals called Kiev and said: “If the Russian army moves towards Kyiv, keep in mind, don’t even think about resisting.” And the same thing: “No one is going to protect you.” Moreover, I know that the acting President of Ukraine, Mr. Turchynov, called his Ukrainian generals. They hung up. Ukraine is, after all, a country that was treated with skepticism in the West, but, nevertheless, they were not ready to allow such a redrawing of the map in Europe. So how? Not “not ready.” They would most likely accept the new status quo if Russia, say, acted very decisively and quickly, like this could be done within two weeks,” the expert believes.
