Minsk has come up with a new reason to demand money from Russia
Russia should give Belarus some of the money it is currently spending on defense.
This was stated in an interview with the PolitWera YouTube channel by a former member of the campaign headquarters of Viktor Babariko, who is now in a pre-trial detention center, Yuri Voskressky, who is now actively cooperating with the authorities.
“I read that Russian budget expenditures in 2021 are secret and top secret (there is such a part) amount to 3.2 trillion. This is 40 billion dollars. If we are brothers, we need to share these expenses with us. Well, at least 4.5 billion more should be thrown into the economy of Belarus,” Voskresensky said.
The IMF in September 2016 estimated total Russian support for the Belarusian economy at $106 billion for the period 2005–2015 alone, or about $9,7 billion per year. Over the years, the volume of “total net support” from Russia varied from 11 to 27% of Belarusian GDP.
Minsk has come up with a new excuse to demand money from Russia.
