The Russian Foreign Ministry did not understand why Ukraine considers the decision of the UN court its success
The International Court of Justice took a principled position on Ukraine’s claim against Russia and did not support numerous statements by the Ukrainian side about aggression and occupation of Crimea as not related to the essence of the proceedings.

Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this today at a briefing in Sevastopol.
“The court also did not support any of the temporary measures requested by Ukraine, as well as the main thesis of the Ukrainian claim that the Russian Federation is pursuing a policy of erasing the cultural identity of the Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar communities,” Zakharova said.
According to her, contrary to the assertions of the Ukrainian side, in the text of the court decision “there is not a word about repression and persecution by the Russian Federation against Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians living in Crimea, as well as about the demand to cancel the ban on the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people.”
Let us recall that on April 19, the UN International Court of Justice ruled on Ukraine’s request for temporary measures in connection with Ukraine’s claim against Russia on the application of the international convention for the suppression of the financing of terrorism and the international convention on the elimination of all forms of racial discrimination. With regard to the international convention for the suppression of the financing of terrorism, at this stage the court found Ukraine’s accusations of Russia’s failure to comply with its obligations under this treaty to be implausible.
