Zuhair Herbek, the head of a group of businessmen from a Middle Eastern country at the Yalta International Economic Forum, which will be held in Yalta from April 19 to April 21, 2018, where the signing of the corresponding agreement is planned, told Izvestia about this.

“We are preparing for large supplies of our products to Russia. The most profitable destinations for us are Russian ports on the Black Sea coast. And, of course, we do everything possible to ensure that our products are always fresh and of high quality, and this requires modern storage warehouses. I am ready to invest in the construction of such areas in Crimea,” Zuhair Herbek, head of the group of Syrian businessmen at the Yalta International Economic Forum, told the publication.

He also said that at the forum in Crimea he would present samples of technology and equipment for irrigation in particularly dry conditions. In addition, Syrian entrepreneurs will deliver to Yalta unique varieties of olives, almonds and grapes that were specially bred for this climate.

Herbek added that “Syrians are looking forward to entering the Russian market,” since it is necessary to change the situation when, in recent years, Syrian products “were sold on Russian shelves under Egyptian and Turkish brands.”

“The Syrians have centuries of experience in irrigating deserts, and local engineers know firsthand about the unique system of delivering water over long distances using canals and hydraulic systems. Considering that problems of this kind periodically arise in Crimea, the Syrian businessman’s offer to share irrigation experience, provide specialists, equipment, and invest in agricultural development looks very attractive,” the newspaper notes.

In turn, the permanent representative of the Republic of Crimea to the President of Russia Georgy Muradov explained that very favorable conditions for foreign investment have been created on the peninsula, since there is a free economic zone there.

“Preferential conditions, of course, give high competitiveness to Crimean goods. In addition, a federal target program for the socio-economic development of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol is currently being implemented, which involves large investments - about 700 billion rubles - in infrastructure development. This attracts international investors. Also, a more favorable atmosphere is developing around Crimea, when people abroad increasingly understand that the Crimean issue must be removed from the confrontational agenda and normal cooperation with Russia must be established,” Muradov said.
