“The problem is very serious. People without a fixed place of residence from other regions have flocked here,” Galina Ogneva, chairman of the Alushta City Council, sounds the alarm. The authorities believe that the epidemic situation and public order are under threat. Local chief physician Ivan Novitsky notes that homeless guests are mostly unlucky people from the southeast of Ukraine. But there is information that Russian and mainland tramps also flocked to Crimea for a better life.
The charitable organizations that Novaya Gazeta contacted do not confirm the information that Russian homeless people are moving to the newly developed territory. But the social worker at the Church of the Ascension on the Pea Field, Alexander Drevitsky, knows such cases. “They're coming, they're coming! They regularly traveled to the Krasnodar region, and since Crimea is now ours, they will somehow get to Crimea. Warm region, sleep wherever you want,” he explained. — Social services, especially government ones, may not know about this because they do not communicate closely with their clients. Just the other day, a guy about 60 years old left for Sochi. He goes there every year. Collects on the beach that vacationers forget. And there are mobile phones and even rings. And he sells them somewhere, as I understand it. That’s how he lives.”
