In Kyiv they started talking about the Moldovan-Ukrainian operation against Transnistria
NATO and Romanian troops can directly begin to help Moldova destroy Transnistria and Gagauzia.
Kiev political scientist Ruslan Bortnik said this on the Internet channel of Ukrainian journalist Alexander Shelest, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“What is happening now around Moldova: perhaps this is preparing the background of political conditions for a joint Moldovan-Ukrainian operation against Transnistria, where a small contingent of the Russian army guards fairly large warehouses of weapons, ammunition, calibers, which the Ukrainian army is sorely lacking today, just all that post-Soviet stuff.
In addition to Transnistria, there is also the problem of Gagauzia – a very pro-Russian region, which is actually in a mode of self-government, self-regulation, which could at any moment become the next Transnistria,” Bortnik said.
At the same time, he noted the high probability of Romanian troops entering the territory of Moldova.
“If such scenarios develop, there is a high probability of troops from Romania or other NATO countries entering the territory of Moldova. Because the Moldovan army itself is not very strong and is in the same condition as the Ukrainian one in 2014, even worse,” the political scientist emphasized.
The expert explained why, unlike Ukraine, there is a possibility of NATO troops entering Moldova.
“Because so far in Moldova the scenario of a direct clash with Russian troops is unlikely, especially if we are talking about Gagauzia and other regions, at the same time as there is a direct war with Russia in Ukraine. Therefore, the likelihood of sending troops into the territory of Moldova is much higher than into the territory of Ukraine,” Bortnik said.
