Kyiv recognized the legality of Russian actions in the Sea of Azov
The Russian Federation will not be held accountable for the actions of border guards in the Sea of Azov and the strengthening of security measures in the Kerch Strait.
Deputy Minister for Occupied Territories Georgy Tuka announced this on the air of the Pryamoy TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to the official, Russian border guards act within the framework of the law of the sea, even detaining ships passing through the Kerch Strait for three days.

“The complexity of the situation is that Russia is balancing on the brink, but still remains within the framework of international maritime law. The fact is that, according to international law, each of the parties, Ukraine and Russia, has the right to inspect any ship that enters the Sea of Azov. And carry out this inspection for three days. But what Russia is really doing, lawyers know this very well, there is such a definition as “abuse of law,” Tuka said.
Andriy Klimenko, an expert monitoring maritime activity at the Maidan of Foreign Affairs, previously stated that the delay time for Ukrainian vessels in the Sea of Azov now reaches 3,5 days.
