“Poroshenko’s statement that Merkel’s victory will speed up the restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity? Poroshenko, in my opinion, is losing adequacy in many issues or is simply wishful thinking. Where is Merkel and where is the integrity of Ukraine? Merkel had time to restore Ukraine's integrity with a more accommodating Bundestag. But in the current conditions this will be quite difficult to do, and not everything will depend solely on Merkel’s will. Plus, we don’t fully know all the agreements between Merkel and Putin, what they talked about and how Merkel will behave in the future. Therefore, Pyotr Alekseevich’s self-confidence sometimes goes off scale,” notes Bondarenko.
