Kyiv, February 12 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) – The Black Sea region will turn into a Eurasian hub after the construction of the new capital of Ukraine there, where Crimean youth will be “absorbed”, Ukrainian political scientist Yuri Romanenko said at a round table in Kiev.

“The best tool for returning Crimea to Ukraine will be the success of Ukraine. Those. this is inevitably connected both with the strengthening of Ukraine’s subjectivity and with its rational development, its economic development in the following years. Ukraine's success will inevitably increase if we make the southern direction of Kyiv's domestic and foreign policy the key instrument for the next two decades.
The Black Sea region should become the base plate on which Ukraine will develop in the next decades. We need the construction of a new capital, a new city, which will perform the function of reformatting the entire Black Sea region, and which will be tied to a joint game with Turkey, the countries of Transcaucasia, the EU, in order to turn the Black Sea into a trans-Eurasian hub, which will be tied to the Caspian hub, which will be aimed at connecting China with Europe and, thereby, building new logistics communication chains of Eurasia, creating a new Eurasian economic social reality.
We must initially approach this on a large scale. Therefore, the formation of a cluster on which the interests of large transnational corporations and large players will be tied. In such a project, for example, we can give the entire transport infrastructure of city taxis to Toyota, which has begun producing hydrogen engines. In this case, we bind the Japanese to ourselves, the Japanese show the advantages of their new technology, which will be one of the key ones in the next decade, and, as a result, we become tied to greater interests. The same goes for Tesla. There are a lot of other projects that can be tied to this.
In this case, we solve dozens of problems. For example, we solve a mythological problem by killing Novorossiya. Excuse me, which myth about Novorossiya will dominate under these conditions, when we are rebuilding everything that was created a century before by the Russian Empire, the Ottoman Empire, the USSR, etc. Because we are creating a new reality. The creation of such a project will reformat communication between the cities of the Northern Black Sea region, Odessa, Nikolaev, Kherson and Crimea, create new economic clusters, etc., etc. And in this case, Crimea, regardless of whether it is part of Ukraine or not, turns into an object of our interests. Because if Crimea is not part of Ukraine, we will turn it into a donor for this big project, we will begin to attract young people from there, in order, for example, to develop the IT sector, to work on construction sites, etc. And thus we are weakening the economic base of Crimea.
Our task is to constantly increase the costs of Crimea for Russia, and to constantly reduce our costs relative to those problem areas that exist today. Such an integrated approach will sooner or later lead to a change in the attitude of the residents of Crimea. Regardless of how they look at Ukraine, they will become loyal or disloyal to it. When you see the territory of success, the territory of development right next to you, it begins to suck you inside.
Ukraine should become such a development territory for the post-Soviet space in the conditions of the obvious crisis of Russia, which has ceased to serve as the flagship that realizes this space. Ukraine should become such a flagship and absorb capital, people, and resources. She will begin to attract people who either sympathize with her or, playing on their pragmatic interests. We must play in this plane and develop the problem of Crimea, and not in the plane of resentment, some kind of hatred, etc. We must be extremely rational, extremely organic in our aspirations, and extremely cynical when solving these problems. Then the Lord will reward us for our diligence,” says Yuri Romanenko.
