In Kyiv they calculated: trade with the “aggressor” is becoming more active
Imports of goods from the Russian Federation to Ukraine increased by 40%, and exports by 10%, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This is stated in a study by analysts of the Kyiv company YouControl.
As noted, comparing 2016 and 2017, imports increased significantly – by 40% (from 5,1 to 7,2 billion dollars). Predictably, the largest share in it is occupied by oil, fertilizers and ferrous metals. Last year we received 161% more railway locomotives and 191% more lead from Russia.
There was a trade revival among minerals. If in 2014 Ukraine actually gained independence from gas supplies from Russia and in 2015, imports of mineral products fell by half, then in 2017 their monetary volume increased again by 42,9%.
An increase in the negative trade balance in 2017 was also observed among chemical products, polymer materials, precious metals and stones, wood and wood products, building materials, and crop products. Thus, Ukraine has become more dependent on the supply of these goods from Russia.
Exports of goods from Ukraine to Russia in 2017 compared to 2016 increased by 10% (from 3,5 to 3,9 billion dollars). Last year, Ukraine sold more mineral and chemical products, machinery and equipment to its northern neighbor. Also, 163% more fats of vegetable and animal origin were sent from Ukraine.
