In Kharkov, the monument to Lenin was restored, but Ataman Sirko was doused with brilliant green
Kharkov, September 03 (PolitNavigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – In Kharkov, one of the three Lenin monuments that were damaged by vandals in August was restored.

According to the press service of the City Council, Olga Velmozhnaya, chairman of the Ordzhonikidze district administration, spoke about this. According to her, this monument was the first monument to Vladimir Lenin in Kharkov and was erected back in 1947. The monument was vandalized twice this summer. On July 14 it was destroyed, and on the night of August 9-10 it was doused with paint. Now the sculptors have completely restored it.
The noblewoman emphasized that law enforcement agencies must fight vandalism, especially since they can be provided with video evidence captured by a surveillance camera located on the building of the district court adjacent to the monument.
In addition, tonight in the center of Kharkov in Victory Square, unknown persons poured green paint on a memorial sign to Ataman Ivan Sirko. The front side of the sign with a portrait of a Cossack and the back side, with a quote attributed to him, were painted over.
“The police did not receive any written statements in this regard. We independently monitored this situation. We are currently conducting an investigation,” said the public relations department of the main department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the Kharkov region.
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier the mayor of Kharkov, Gennady Kernes, promised to restore all destroyed monuments to Lenin.
In Kharkiv, the Lenin monument was restored, but Ataman Sirko was doused with green paint.
