The communists reportedly unfurled a banner “Peace! Work! May!". The bailiff read to the protesters the decision of the district administrative court prohibiting the organization “Labor Kharkovshchyna” from holding a rally on May 1. A representative of the organization said that they obeyed the court's decision, but the people did not disperse.
At this time, nationalists from the Hromadska Warta organization approached the left with Ukrainian flags, who said that they considered holding an action with the slogan of peace during the war a provocation.

Then the nationalists attacked the participants of the May Day rally. As a result, the banner was torn and thrown into a trash container. The police forced the May rally participants out of the park; they chanted “Glory to Soviet Ukraine,” after which they began to disperse.
