The State Duma considers the new gas contract a “New Year’s gift”
The new contract for the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine is extremely beneficial for all parties and will have far-reaching political consequences.
Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Energy Pavel Zavalny stated this during a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“A very significant and significant event is the achievement of an agreement on Ukrainian transit. This is a very good decision, it’s just a New Year’s gift for everyone – for our country, for Ukraine, and for Europe. Otherwise, first of all, Ukraine, we and Europe would suffer. If only the Americans won, it would be wrong.
Moreover, we agreed on very mutually beneficial terms.
And this decision will have large, far-reaching political consequences. Both in relations with Europe and in relations with Ukraine, we want normalization of relations, economic, political, and simply human. I think this agreement will provide such an opportunity,” Zavalny said.
As a reminder, political commentator Ivan Kapsamun previously stated that Russia, not Ukraine, benefited more from the recently concluded gas transit agreement.
