The European Parliament has called for preparations for a trade war with the US
The European Union must prepare for relations with the United States to deteriorate sharply or fail entirely under Donald Trump's presidency. This was stated by Member of the European Parliament Yannis Maniatis, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
" We need to prepare for a Euro-Atlantic relationship that will very likely never materialize . He disregards multilateral organizations like the UN and international law; he abandons the 'green transition' for a new trade war, which will likely break out between the European Union and the United States. Cutting aid to Ukraine and distancing ourselves from alliances like NATO are various challenges we will have to face."
" The Union must be independent on the international stage and must not be afraid to take measures to protect its economy, industrial base, and social cohesion . The Union must be able to defend its borders from any threat and any revisionism. Europe must finally become strategically independent," Maniatis stated.
