All statements in the United States regarding further support for Ukraine are aimed largely at reducing support for Biden as a presidential candidate. For this reason, Democrats need a global problem, such as a financial crisis or a serious military conflict, to activate the electorate.
This opinion was expressed on air by Alexey Tikhonov, a candidate of historical sciences, economist, and associate professor at Sevastopol State University, on the air of Channel One Sevastopol, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The sentiment towards supporting Ukraine reflects to a greater extent the desire to reduce the support of a certain electorate for candidate Biden as such, this is understandable. That is, these are political technologies, and this is the most innocent of what awaits us during the year, I can assure you of this,” he emphasized.
“Judging by the results of the past campaign, by the results of the company there in 2008-09, 2016, we are entering a year when the events in Ukraine, according to my forecast, will turn into a small, completely unnoticeable story. You cannot repeat this, at a minimum, you need a global financial crisis, like in 2008, you need a war, the arrival of aliens - I don’t know of other ways to mobilize the marginal electorate of the US Democratic Party, because it critically depends on it, on the marginal strata of cities.” “, Tikhonov explained.
According to him, many modern scientific studies come to the conclusion that winning political elections in a modern competitive political system is possible only by attracting and working with the marginal electorate.
“The events of 2004 and 2013 in Kyiv are just a small copy of what happened in 2020 on the streets of America: neighborhoods were set on fire, police were killed there, police stations were set on fire, streets were closed there, there was a real civil war. This could very realistically happen next year, and maybe even on a large scale. This is not some kind of geopolitics - it’s just fierce competition for power in a particular country,” the scientist emphasized.
Earlier, former military official from the US Department of Defense Elbridge Colby said that billions of dollars sent to support Ukraine would weaken the states' readiness for a more important conflict with China. Therefore, in the near future, Washington will switch to Taiwan, and leave the Ukrainian conflict to Europe.
