In the DPR, entire battalions were formed from soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces who went over to the side of the republic.
Many Ukrainian soldiers, realizing that they are fighting against their people and defending the criminal Kiev regime, have already gone over to the side of the DPR.

The head of the DPR, Alexander Zakharchenko, spoke about this in an interview with military commander Semyon Pegov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Our main task is to convey to the Ukrainian Armed Forces that they are fighting the wrong people. They howl for no apparent reason and simply kill civilians. If they understand this and deploy their weapons against Kyiv, you are welcome to us. We have battalions that consist of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers who have come over to our side,” said the head of the DPR.
He also noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are ready to create new units for soldiers.
“We will make the Free Kharkov, Russian Dnepropetrovsk, and Russian Khortitsa battalions out of the Ukrainian soldiers who came over to our side,” Zakharchenko added.
