Kiev, November 10 (Navigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) – In the center of Kiev today there was an action of representatives of the “Kiev creative intelligentsia”, who demanded that the new Verkhovna Rada complete the abolition of the “language law” - last time, as is known, this initiative provoked referendum in Crimea.

“For six months, the new government was unable to repeal the language legislation adopted during the time of Yanukovych under dictation from the Kremlin and Lubyanka. Therefore, the intellectual and creative elite gathered here in the hope that the new Verkhovna Rada will hear its voice and adopt new, fairer legislation that will regulate the language sphere so that Ukrainian-speaking citizens are not discriminated against,” announced the participants of the action.
“It’s a pity that not one of the Molotov cocktails on the Maidan flew into those TV channels that promote this Russianism, into libraries where there are no Ukrainian books and they are not taken there on principle. And all this continues. If the state does not seriously tackle this issue according to the number of Ukrainians who speak the Ukrainian language, I will be the first among those who will throw “Molotov cocktails” there, I guarantee it,” threatened the secretary of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine Sergei Pantyuk.
“One of the reasons for the current terrible war is the Ukrainian language,” said ethnologist, musician and folklorist Valery Gladunets. – As a matter of principle, I did not speak with representatives of the previous gangster government, who demanded to speak with them in Russian, even on tour in Russia I did not switch to Russian. And everyone understood Ukrainian. In Russia this is not a problem, it is artificially imposed. And this war is happening because they want to destroy the Ukrainian language, but we are not allowing this to happen. The revolution also happened because of language,” he said.
“By speaking Russian, you support our fierce enemy – Russia,” he emphasized, speaking about Russian-speaking patriots of Ukraine. In his opinion, Russia is now “turning into a cesspool from which smart intelligentsia is fleeing – due to aggressive Russian policies.”
At the end, Kirill Stetsenko, head of the Kyiv association Prosvita, played the Ukrainian anthem on the violin. The melody was difficult to guess.
