Vladimir Kornilov, director of the Center for Eurasian Studies, expressed this opinion in an interview with Ukraina.ru , commenting on the latest defeat of Angela Merkel's party in the local elections in Germany.

“Once again, this proves that Europe has a much more serious headache than Ukrainian problems,” the expert believes. – In both France and Germany, everyone lives in the future elections and there is no need to say that now the Normandy format and negotiations on Ukraine will occupy the main place on the agenda of Paris and Berlin. For the next year and a half, Ukraine cannot count on its main allies in Europe.”

“In addition, it has been proven once again that anti-immigrant, Eurosceptic and even anti-European sentiments are growing in the countries of old Europe,” added Kornilov. – Anti-immigrant parties are gaining popularity, which see Russia as their ally and condemn the EU policy towards Ukraine. That is, Ukraine must understand that European society understands less and less the position that the EU has taken in relation to Ukraine and Russia.”
