At night, on the 144th anniversary of Ilyich’s birth, opponents of federalization desecrated the monument: they wrote the words “Kat” and “Russia is a prison of nations” on the pedestal and doused it with red paint, reports Berdyansk24. In addition, the hands of the leader of the proletariat were painted with red paint, symbolizing blood.
Utility workers promptly eliminated traces of the night sabotage, and the police detained the “artist.” As reported by the first deputy head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the Zaporozhye region - head of the investigative department Oleg Kurochkin, the person who committed this violation was detained along with the climbing accessories that were used, and paint was also confiscated from him. The information was entered into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations. There are prospects for bringing the case to court, unlike the investigation into the February events - the demolition of a monument in the regional center.
