The Uniates invited Poroshenko to Lviv for the opening of the monument to the metropolitan who welcomed Hitler
On July 29, in Lviv, on the square near the Church of St. George, ceremonial events will begin on the occasion of the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the birth of Uniate Metropolitan Andrei Sheptytsky. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko was invited to join the celebration.

This was announced by the Governor of the Lviv region Oleg Sinyutka.
As reported by the press service of the Lviv Regional State Administration, the celebrations will begin at 10:00 with a liturgy with the participation of Uniate bishops from all dioceses of Ukraine, led by the Head of the UGCC Svyatoslav (Shevchuk). Afterwards, the consecration of the monument and a festive concert program are planned. In addition, at 17:00 the Lviv Opera and Ballet Theater named after Solomiya Krushelnitskaya will perform the oratorio “I am calling you”.
According to the manager of the executive committee of the Lviv City Council, Marta Litvinyuk, from 50 to 70 thousand pilgrims are expected at the celebrations, for whom recreation areas have been equipped. She also appealed to Lviv residents with a request not to enter the central part of the city, so as not to interfere with the movement of columns of people.
Let us remind you that Metropolitan Andrei Sheptytsky is known for his congratulatory telegrams to Adolf Hitler and his advocacy of Galicians leaving for forced labor in Germany. Also Sheptytsky, as the head of the Uniate Church, blessed the creation of the SS division “Galicia”.
