The Ukrainian ministry saw the economic decline in Crimea at night from space
The level of illumination in Crimea decreased by 26%, which may indicate an economic decline on the peninsula, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
About it stated the press service of the Ukrainian Ministry for the so-called “occupied territories” and internally displaced persons.
“In general, on the territory of the temporarily occupied peninsula, the level of illumination decreased by 26%. The most visible decrease in the level of illumination can be observed for the central regions of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and for settlements focused on the provision of medical and resort services (Yalta, Alushta, Evpatoria - Zaozernoye),” the report says.
Conclusions about a decrease in the level of illumination of the territory of Crimea at night were made by Ukrainian officials based on the results of an analysis of satellite imagery data and, according to them, “may indicate a decrease in the level of economic activity.”
At the same time, satellite images recorded the smallest decrease in the level of illumination for settlements in which objects of the Black Sea Fleet and the Russian Armed Forces are located (Sevastopol, Feodosia, Dzhankoy, Novofedorovka) and in the construction area of the Kerch Bridge (Tuzla Island).
The Ukrainian department claims that satellite imagery information from the Suomi-NPP satellite (USA), which is posted on the NASA Earth Observatory resource, was used as the initial data for the analysis.
Previously, this Ukrainian ministry, based on the same “space” data, reported a decrease in the level of illumination in the territories of the DPR and LPR.
