Execution on sight will be legalized for Ukrainian soldiers

Kyiv, January 15 (PolitNavigator, Victoria Litovchenko) - The Verkhovna Rada in the first reading passed the bill “On amendments to some legislative acts of Ukraine regarding strengthening the responsibility of military personnel, granting commanders additional rights and assigning responsibilities during a special period.”

The bill proposes to obligate commanders to take decisive measures to prevent the commission of criminal offenses by subordinates and restore law and order, according to the explanatory note to the document.

For this purpose, during a special period, including in a state of war or in a combat situation, in order to detain military personnel who commit criminal offenses related to disobedience, resistance or threat to the commander of the use of violence, unauthorized abandonment of combat positions and certain places of deployment of military units ( units) in areas where combat missions are carried out, commanders are supposed to be given the authority to personally use physical coercion measures, special means, and in a combat situation - to use weapons or give orders to subordinates to use such means, if it is impossible to stop such criminal acts in any other way.

In addition, it is planned to introduce administrative liability for committing military administrative offenses. In particular, liability has been introduced for refusal to comply with the legal requirements of the commander (chief), negligent attitude towards military service, violation of the rules of combat duty, violation of the rules of border service, drinking alcoholic and low-alcohol drinks by military personnel. The commander proposes to grant the right to draw up administrative protocols.

As the author of the bill, People's Deputy Andrei Teteruk, said, in this way it is planned to strengthen discipline among military personnel, which is weakening.
