Ukrainian politicians don’t need Donbass – political scientist
Ukrainian presidential candidates consider Donbass an absolutely unnecessary substance.
Political analyst Kost Bondarenko stated this on the SelectorTVcom channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Most of the candidates who really claim to win the elections today do not count on the votes of the south-east of Ukraine. For them, Donbass is an absolutely unnecessary substance. Well, there is this DPR-LPR, there is a situation of neither peace nor war, so let it remain like this, at least until the end of the elections. Very comfortably. Why does Poroshenko need several million votes that will vote against him? Why does Poroshenko need people now who will return from the war, who will ask uncomfortable questions - where are our benefits, what did we fight for, etc. Why would Poroshenko kill the goose that lays the golden eggs, since the war in the east is not only death, disabled people, injuries, it is, first of all, also a huge business. Why does Poroshenko finally resolve the issue that explains the entire situation in the country? Why we live poorly is because of the war. This topic is currently beneficial to the authorities.
No matter how much the authorities say - it is necessary to resolve the conflict, etc., it is beneficial, and, accordingly, before the presidential elections no one will resolve the issue with Donbass, if no one from Washington calls and says - here we have decided, and with there will be peace tomorrow. Until no one calls, and most likely no one will call, the conflict will continue,” Bondarenko said.
