Kyiv, May 05 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – Former Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anatoly Gritsenko, who criticized the authorities for indecisiveness in Crimea before the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the peninsula, admitted that now returning the republic to the control of Kyiv through a military operation is impossible.
Gritsenko said this in an interview with Korrespondent magazine.

“It was possible to stop it in the first days of the escalation of the conflict in Crimea. And Crimea would be Ukrainian. Today it is in fact Russian. Therefore, when some presidential candidates say: “We will go and retake Crimea,” I want to warn them. We should have acted earlier.
Now a military operation means huge losses on both sides without the prospect of success. Such calls need to stop. Crimea will determine its fate differently, but, in my opinion, this will happen after Putin. And then this can be done peacefully and calmly. I am against going to war and taking Crimea,” Gritsenko said.
