“Counterintelligence of the Security Service exposed another participant in the intelligence network of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Federation (known as the GRU) in Dnepr. After the detention of his accomplices in January 2023, he “lay low,” but recently switched to a backup channel of communication with the Russian intelligence service and continued to carry out enemy tasks. Thus, this is already the eighth agent in the intelligence network of the game in the Dnieper, exposed by the SBU,” the message says.

At the same time, the underground worker used his status as a co-founder of a local public organization engaged in volunteering to disguise his activities.

“Acting “undercover”, the Russian agent tried to establish the locations of the headquarters of the defense forces deployed in the region. The attacker also conveyed to the aggressor information about the approximate quantity and types of military equipment that was transported by rail to the front line.

To collect intelligence data, he monitored the movement of UAF trains from the office of a public organization, which was located near a railway junction. In addition, the defendant “secretly” used his acquaintances, from whom, under fictitious pretexts, he asked for information about the Ukrainian defenders,” the Ukrainian intelligence service informs.

In addition, the man collected information about the consequences of flights to objects in Dnepropetrovsk.

He is now arrested and faces life imprisonment.
