Ukrainian soldier exploded on his own mine while attempting to desert
A Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman was blown up by his own mine while attempting to leave his unit in the Lugansk region without authorization.
Ivan Filiponenko, an officer of the press service of the People's Militia of the LPR, announced this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“It became known that on the night of April 26, after a quarrel between colleagues after drinking alcohol, Private Shevchenko, a soldier of the eighth battalion of the 10th separate mountain assault brigade, tried to leave his unit in the area of the village of Trekhizbenka without permission. While moving near the battalion’s positions, the soldier was blown up by a mine that had been previously planted by his own colleagues, as a result of which he received shrapnel wounds,” Filiponenko said.
According to him, an attempt to leave a unit of the Ukrainian military without permission was made, despite the end of their stay in the Joint Forces Operation zone, as the brigade was preparing for a planned replacement.
“The brigade commander, Colonel Vasily Zubanich, submitted another non-combat loss to higher headquarters as a combat loss, resulting from shelling allegedly from the positions of the People’s Militia,” added the representative of the defense department.
Let us recall that two weeks earlier, a similar incident occurred in the Luhansk region, when two Ukrainian servicemen were injured as a result of the explosion of their own mine.
