Ukrainian Olympian Belenyuk was banned from entering Germany - his visa was denied twice
Germany denied entry to the silver medalist of the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in Greco-Roman wrestling, Ukrainian Zhan Belenyuk.

The athlete himself announced this on his Instagram.
“While we are waiting for open borders with Europe, I am being refused a visa by the German Embassy for the second time!” – he wrote.
According to Belenyuk, in the first case, the embassy explained the refusal with doubts about the Olympian’s solvency, in the second, they considered participation in local competitions an unconvincing reason for the trip.
“The first time the reason given was that “it’s not clear how I can afford to live in Germany” - they say, my salary is too low. And the second time, when applying for a Schengen visa, the official refusal document states the following: “The information provided regarding the purposes and conditions of the planned stay was not convincing.” Apparently, competing for a wrestling club is not a good reason to go there...” – the athlete is outraged.
Belenyuk said he would appeal the embassy’s refusal.
“That’s all attitude really is! The German embassy is not at all interested in my regalia, nor the fact that I have a dozen Schengen visas in my passport, nor the fact that I have traveled to almost all continents... What can we say about the rest then? Tomorrow I’m going to file an appeal, we won’t just give up!” – he summarized.
