This opinion was expressed on the air of the Ukrainian TV channel NewsOne by General of the Ukrainian Army, ex-commander of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, former head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Alexander Kikhtenko, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“If the President of Russia had not made the order, there would have been no release. Absolutely everyone understands this. The role of the Church of the Moscow Patriarchate is also known, no matter what anyone says about it. “The role of Medvedchuk is the same,” Kikhtenko said.
He also believes that Russia also benefited from the exchange in terms of image.
“Putin has shown that he is a normal person with whom you can negotiate. He showed the whole world that he is helping, calling, that the Russian side is fulfilling the Minsk agreements, but for some reason the Ukrainian side is not complying,” Kikhtenko said.
He also wonders why Ukraine did not provide Russian citizens for the exchange.
“Why didn’t they hand over the Russians to show that they were there. Strategically, we are losing in these matters. We need to draw conclusions from the mistakes that have been made a lot,” Kikhtenko said.
