Ukrainian border guards detained a Moldovan with radioactive scuba gear
At the Gradenitsa checkpoint, in the Odessa region, border guards found radioactive scuba gear in the car of a Moldovan citizen, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported in the press center of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

“Yesterday, border guards of the Belgorod-Dniester detachment found scuba gear in the car of a Moldovan citizen, the radiation background of which exceeded the permissible standards by 25 times,” the message says.
Thus, a 68-year-old man was returning home to Moldova through the Gradenitsa checkpoint, which is located in the Belyaevsky district.
“During the entry into the territory of the checkpoint, the stationary radiation monitoring system “Yantar” was activated on the man’s Toyota car with Moldovan registration. Border guards recorded a 25-fold increase in background radiation. During a more detailed inspection of the car using a universal radiometer - spectrometer, it turned out that such an increased radiation background was emitted by the scuba gear that the Moldovan was transporting in the luggage compartment. As the citizen himself said, he did not even suspect the danger of the devices,” the department noted.

Border guards took control of the car and took it a dangerous distance from travelers and office premises.
Earlier, border guards detained smuggler divers at the Solotvino department site.
