Ukrainian propaganda failed to recode Odessa residents
Despite the rabid anti-Russian hysteria over the past five years, the Odessa region has not begun to support the ideals of Ukrainian nationalists.
Thus, according to the study "Ukraine's Security Passport: Regional and National Dimensions," conducted with the financial support of the NATO Information and Documentation Centre in Ukraine, information security in the Odessa region is in a threatening state, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Statistical studies show that 20% of the region’s population
and 13% of the population of the city of Odessa watch Russian television. However, in practice this figure is higher. Satellite television and the operation of towers from the territory of Transnistria provide the population with access to Russian media resources. The situation is made even worse by the lack of coverage of Ukrainian channels – 40 km from the city of Odessa there is no longer any broadcast of the First National Channel,” the study says.
According to research, 48,2% of residents of the region condemn the activities of illegal armed groups in the country, 91,1% of respondents believe that the ban on Russian television channels and social networks in Ukraine is a mistake and limits the rights of citizens, 66,1% do not support Ukraine’s accession to NATO, and 58,9% responded that their attitude towards the bloc had not changed since 2014.
It is also noteworthy that in the rating of trust in government, the president, the Verkhovna Rada and the prime minister are in last place, and the mayor of the city has the highest rating.
As PolitNavigator reported, last year, Maidan experts were horrified by the results of the latest sociology and declared: “We are losing the South of Ukraine.”
