The Ukrainian economy is in complete decline – unemployment is becoming the main problem
The pandemic has dealt a catastrophic blow to the Ukrainian economy, which risks never recovering from such a shock.
Economic expert Viktor Skarshevsky stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“After a deep fall, a gradual recovery begins and it is not yet a fact that we will reach the level that was before the fall associated with the start of the coronavirus pandemic,” the expert noted.
He also emphasized that the main problem of the Ukrainian economy is the sharp increase in the unemployment rate, which has doubled since the beginning of the pandemic.
“The most basic problem is not even the growth figures of plus or minus five percent; this doesn’t tell people much, and, so to speak, you can’t spread bread. And the fact that the unemployment rate has sharply increased, according to my calculations and estimates of other analytical centers, to three million people is an increase that is actually twice as large as before the quarantine level. The problem of unemployment will be number one until the end of the year,” Skarshevsky concluded.
