Representatives of a number of volunteer organizations spoke about this at a press conference in Kiev, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Our army is finally shod, clothed and fed,” believes Anna Sandalova, chairman of the board of the “Support the Ukrainian Army” charitable foundation. – And now we are moving on to the next stage - we are solving technological issues of equipment, movement and work with special equipment. This is evident in all the requests we receive from the military."
Daria Morozova, coordinator of the SOS Army project, spoke in more detail about one aspect of the technical re-equipment of the Ukrainian security forces. In her opinion, it is necessary to minimize the reaction time of Ukrainian artillery to artillery strikes from the opposite side.
"There are military personnel who can do this themselves; they've been working with artillery systems for a long time and can calculate it, but it will take five to seven minutes, while for someone extremely talented, it might take just a couple of minutes," the volunteer noted. "Our goal is to reduce this to 30 seconds. For this, we're currently using software installed on Android tablets. The idea is that with just a few clicks, someone who knows how to use it can immediately obtain the data they need to respond to artillery fire."
The Army SOS project coordinator claims that the military itself calls volunteers and tells them which artillery system they need software for.
"We're trying to standardize everything, because it's clear that someone might know other methods, or have other software, even downloading artillery calculators or ballistic calculations from the Android Market , which we're not responsible for," Morozova warned. "Therefore, we're trying to coordinate with other volunteer organizations to ensure that all soldiers on the front lines have the same software. When it comes to fast data transfer, everyone is working within the same system and there are no data conversion issues."
