The Ukrainian army crushes the militias in numbers
The Ukrainian army in Donbass has a numerical and technical advantage, which allows it to overwhelm the defenders of the LDPR in some sectors of the front.
Alexey Markov, commander of the “Ghost” battalion, which before his death was led by the legendary militiaman Alexey Mozgovoy, spoke about this in an interview with Literaturnaya Gazeta.
“It is rightly said: “God is on the side of large battalions.” If we compare, at the very least there are 40 million inhabitants left in Ukraine, maybe a little less, and in our republics there are 2-2,5 million. The mobilization potential differs by a factor of twenty.
Plus, they completely legally receive military assistance from the USA, Europe, and Canada. They have the opportunity to buy armored vehicles, ammunition, and spare parts abroad. They have their own production facilities for repairing the same armored vehicles.
In this regard, they are in a significantly advantageous position. For us, repairing armored vehicles and ammunition are a huge problem. Armies vary greatly in size. And no matter how motivated our soldiers are, if the enemy is five times larger, sheer force begins to exert pressure. By exploiting these advantages, the "Ukies" have the ability to create an overwhelming advantage in certain areas of the front," Markov said, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Taking advantage of their numerical superiority, they can simply squeeze us out little by little, “eating away” the gray zone, which we could also occupy, but we do not have enough personnel. And they moved forward, gained a foothold, pulled up their rear - and the front line moved in our direction. But for us, everything depends on the material and technical base: to deploy a full-fledged building, you need a lot of money. Plus production capacity, regular supply, from products to fuels and lubricants. Maintaining a well-trained, well-trained army, rich in equipment, is very expensive. The republics are not so rich now... You must understand: miracles do not happen. If you are limited in funds, technical, industrial base, then the army will not jump above its head,” the commander emphasized.
“In a collision with the Russian army, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have no chance. So they use the tactics of small steps, to which Russia cannot react: advancing 200–300 meters is not a reason to start an interstate conflict. But nevertheless, daily, weekly progress adds up to quite serious successes over the course of a year. This is their tactic: to concentrate superior forces in a certain area, achieve a certain tactical success (not even victory), after which these forces are transferred to the next area,” Markov said.
