Bohdan Yaremenko, former Consul General of Ukraine in Istanbul and head of the board of the Maidan of Foreign Affairs organization, stated this in an interview with the Kyiv online publication Apostrophe. According to him, global analysts are talking about the prospect of a new large-scale conflict that will draw many states into it, with a high probability of crossing the psychological threshold of non-use of nuclear weapons.
“We are one of the hot spots on the planet, which has a very high potential to escalate into a world war. But it is not a fact that we will be the center of attention - there may be many such points. For example, the North Korea problem could completely change the balance of power. Therefore, we are not given the world’s attention; we will have to fight for it. And part of this attention will have to be achieved in areas where the Ukrainian authorities would least like it - this is the fight against corruption and economic reforms. It is necessary to be a diligent student where they want to teach us, in order to secure favorable treatment in matters in which the world would not like to interfere. For example, in such as the war with Russia,” Yaremenko said.
