Ukrainians no longer believe in the power of anti-Russian sanctions – survey
Less than a quarter of Ukrainian citizens believe that anti-Russian sanctions imposed by the West can significantly weaken Russia.

This was announced at a press conference in Kyiv, where the results of a sociological study “The Influence of Russian Propaganda on Public Opinion in Ukraine” were presented, said program director of the Detector Media NGO Roman Shutov, who said that respondents were asked to assess the effectiveness of anti-Russian sanctions..
“We understand that our people are not very conscious in terms of economics and geopolitics, and therefore we understand that the information they receive about sanctions largely comes from the information field around them. And here we see that 24 percent still believe that Western sanctions are putting pressure on Russia and its resources will soon run out. At the same time, there is a very large percentage of citizens who do not agree with this and believe that sanctions against Russia are not very effective - 45 percent,” the expert said.
At the same time, he pointed out that the opinion about the ineffectiveness of sanctions is equally shared by people both in the West and in the South of Ukraine. At the same time, 37 percent of citizens agree with the statement that sanctions bring losses only to Europe and the United States and will soon be lifted, while less than 32 percent disagree.
The survey was conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology from December 3 to December 12, 2016. 2040 interviews were conducted with respondents living in 110 settlements of Ukraine (in territories controlled by the Ukrainian government). The study was carried out with financial support from the Swedish Embassy in Ukraine.
